lyrics

Hipsters and hashtags
Flat whites and iPads
Clown shirts, lamp shades, bikes with no brake pads

Got a night on the town with my hashtag bestie
No stress about them road blocks when you riding on a fixie
Cape Town-bred with a flair for the arts
I don't listen to a tune thats even entered the charts

My band is too exclusive, you prolly never heard us
I crafted my guitar out of drift wood and hummus
I don't even know when or where our next gig is
I usually get a text to say the show starts in 10 minutes

I got a pencil case bitch, full of pencils 'n shit
I keep it on me all times behind my moonbag zip
I keep my moonbag inside my moonbag case
which I carry on my shoulder in my moonbag case case

This creativity's a curse
I wish I could switch it off
But I can't stop making art, I'll involuntary craft
Even when I'm on Clifton fourth.

The doctors diagnosed me with CCD
Chronic Creative Disorder at the tender age of 3
I tie my hands up but I end up painting with my feet
I take sleeping pills but the problem still occurs, writing poetry in my sleep

Hashtag selfie, hashtag wise
Hashtag contemplating, hashtag life
Hashtag moody, hashtag thighs
Hashtag homeless man...standing with a knife?

I only wash my hair with organic penguin droppings,
My cologne consists of tears of joy from new parents adopting
You can stare all you want but it ain't gonna change the fact that I like
All grain-fed lactating hamster milk in my flat white

I'm over all these corporates, sick of working for the man
Not working for the suits, I got my own unique plan
Gonna stick it to these big ass corporations that are whack!
Gonna blog about my hatred from the comfort of my Mac!

I'm sick of all the haters always hating on the hipster
Branding all We love 'cos they are super sad and bitter
Like checkered shirts: hipster!
Frozen dessert: hipster!
Carpentry: hipster!
Even falconry: hipster!

Come to think of it, there's very little left that isn't hipster
Can't even take a photo on your phone and add a filter
Sometimes I get mixed up between my grandpa and my sister
And my dog is wearing clothes made from the board game known as Twister

Maybe it's time to change and take the next logical step
To escape all of the hate I gotta bring out some old friends
Camo pants, wallet chain, middle-path: check!
And a yin-yang symbol on a chain around my neck!

Nineties fool, its the way to go!
Nobody telling you you're whack for simply growin' out your mo
You can keep your clown shirts, lamp shades and knitted sweater
All I want is hashtag for you to take me to your dealer
